Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Economic development, urban planning, finance, and accounting are especially desired.
  • Must possess excellent communication, writing, analytical, organizational, time management, and client service skills. Pay attention to details, be deadline-oriented, and work in a team environment.
  • Qualifications include accounting, real estate finance, report preparation, research, confidentiality, spreadsheet and data entry management, and general math skills.
  • Two plus (2+) years of experience in accounting, economic development finance, and State of Michigan’s Brownfield Redevelopment/Act 381 Work Plan experience.

Preferred:

Accounting, government, grant, and/or economic development finance experience. An understanding of how real estate development is financed, and the tools, strategies, and techniques used.

 

Job Description:

  • Prepare oral and written reports, presentations, documents, brochures, maps and plans, and related accounting, financial, and economic development finance materials by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Enter and manage financial data in spreadsheets to support information analysis.
  • Prepare project proformas, return on investment projections, and other reports to identify project feasibility.
  • Develop and write the State of Michigan Brownfield Plans and Act 381 Works Plans for Environmental and Non-Environmental Eligible Activities.
  • Write pre-applications and grant/loan applications.
  • Understand debt, equity, grant, and other incentive-based financing programs.
  • Enter and manage financial data in spreadsheets to support information analysis.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing financial information.
  • Secure financial information and audit documents.
  • Prepare reimbursement requests by verifying payment documentation and reconciling it with the incentives package.
  • Managed Archdiocese of Detroit’s Annual asbestos training and school survey program
  • Answer financing procedure questions. Maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.

Expectations Include:

  • An understanding of NREPA Part 213
  • An understanding of NREPA Part 201
  • Managing/overseeing hydrogeological investigations,
  • Interpretation of analytical data using spreadsheets and databases.
  • Conducting/Managing Phase I ESAs to ASTM or higher standards.
  • Conducting/Managing Phase II ESAs.
  • Demonstrating full understanding of each project’s status and goals.
  • Performing tasks across multiple disciplines to bring about successful project completion.
  • Providing quality environmental services.
  • Managing and responding to client’s expectations and project objectives.
