AKT Peerless Opens New Office and Expands Team in Ohio

AKT Peerless is pleased to announce the opening of our new office in Manistee, Michigan and the expansion of our team in Ohio.  We are excited to better serve our clients and communities in these geographic footprints.

AKT Peerless’ new office is located in downtown Manistee in a shared space with our long-time partner Spicer Group.  This expansion is led by Brett Shoaff, Vice President of Vapor Intrusion Services, and will enable AKT Peerless to better serve our clients in West and Northern Michigan. Brett became a permanent resident of the local area in 2021 after over 15 years of part-time residency at the family farm in Fountain, MI.  Mr. Shoaff is a geologist with over 26 years of environmental consulting experience and over that time has performed, managed, or planned over 1,200 environmental site assessment projects. His professional expertise includes a wide array of environmental disciplines including environmental due diligence services, underground storage tank (UST) assessments/reporting, hydrogeological assessments, remediation, and vapor intrusion assessment/mitigation.  Brett will be supported locally by environmental consultants, as well as additional staff located in the Grand Rapids area. AKT Peerless is anchored in the West Michigan market by a large retail client as well as an active partnership with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy.  AKT Peerless recently joined the Manistee Chamber of Commerce and looks forward to participating in local events and establishing new partnerships with Clients and local communities.

AKT Peerless has also added new members to our team in Solon, Ohio, which was established in 2018.  The office now has three full time environmental consultants with a combined experience of over 85 years.  Doug Klicman, who leads activities in the Ohio region, comes to AKT Peerless with over 32 years of experience across all levels of the environmental consulting industry, ranging from due diligence to remediation to vapor intrusion assessment/mitigation, including industrial, manufacturing, and downstream and midstream petroleum operations.    Mr. Klicman is a registered Professional Geologist in Georgia, Kentucky, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas. Michael McVan comes to AKT Peerless with 26 years of experience focusing on due diligence investigations and environmental compliance.  Mr. McVan has performed thousands of due diligence investigations throughout the United States and is a licensed Asbestos Inspector and Management Planner in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Mr. McVan holds multiple certificates of training in various aspects of environmental and safety operations.  Kara Farris has been with AKT Peerless since 2018 and has 15 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry with a strong background in petroleum site compliance. Ms. Farris has conducted extensive field work, including underground storage tank investigations, Phase I and Phase II assessments from initial project assessment to full-fledged remediation projects.  In addition, Ms. Farris performs construction loan inspections and reporting.
