Asbestos Group Field Technician - Farmington, MI

Job Description:

The position is for a field technician/air monitor.  The position duties are as follows: 1) running air monitoring pumps to verify the cleanliness of air, reading microscope slides, and maintaining daily work logs while on a demolition or renovation jobsite; 2) assist in the verification, quantification, and collection of building materials for asbestos analysis; 3) oversee abatement contractors; and 4) assist in the compilation and writing of reports.  AKT Peerless will provide training and experience for the position to become a State of Michigan-accredited asbestos building inspector.  AKT Peerless provides OSHA medical monitoring.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Associates Degree.
  • Excellent verbal and people skills.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Highly dependable.
  • Ability to implement required procedures while working independently.
  • Valid Drivers license and good driving record.
  • Ability to travel for weeks at a time.
  • Ability to wear a respirator.


Preferred:

  • Home and/or Commercial building renovation experience.
  • Classwork or experience in the building trades industry.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
