Oversight and Management of AoD AHERA Inspections, Training, and Implementation
The Archdiocese of Detroit (AoD) oversees a school district with jurisdiction over eighty (80) K-12 schools throughout the tri-county area of southeast Michigan. Like many school districts, AoD relies on consultants to manage and ensure compliance with regulatory programs, including the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) and the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP). AHERA mandates biannual inspections, a comprehensive re-inspection every 3 years, annual training and thorough recordkeeping.
AKT Peerless has managed the AoD AHERA program for over 15 years. Due to the 3-year re-inspection requirement, the program operates on a three-year contract cycle. AKT Peerless holds asbestos awareness and Designated Persons AHERA-required training sessions twice per year. Additionally, AKT Peerless conducts surveillance, performs re-inspections and manages program documentation.
AKT Peerless’ asbestos expertise in large-scale and long-term projects has brought consistency and continued cost-effectiveness to the Archdiocese of Detroit AHERA program.
