Decommissioning Services for Former Paper Mill and Power-House in Monroe, MI

The Project

A comprehensive facility decommissioning plan for a former paper mill and power house. In January of 1813, sixty American soldiers gave their lives defending our country. AKT Peerless worked with the Port of Monroe to Decommission a power plant and paper mill that were abandoned on the same site. A Hazardous Material Survey and Site Characterization Investigation was completed and was used to develop a Facility Decommissioning Plan.

Our Role

The decommissioning activities achieved both CERCLA and RCRA closure allowing the US Park Service to take ownership of the site. Today the site is a National Battlefield Site honoring the Fallen American Soldiers.
